Bikes & Property Tagging
Students who live on campus have access to store their bikes at the bike racks. Apartment residents with outdoor items should tag items before summer.
Students who choose to bring bikes to campus have access to the many racks across campus. To help remove abandoned property from the campus, students are asked to tag their personal items that are left outside at the end of the academic school year before June.
Bike Racks
Bike racks are available for use outside each residence hall, as well as near campus buildings. All students who own bikes are encouraged to obtain strong locks and chains and to their register bikes with the Grand Forks Police Department.
Property Tagging
To distinguish the abandoned property from current residents’ property, apartment residents are asked to place a "property identification band" on items that may be left outside at the end of the academic year before summer. Any property that does not have a band will be removed by UND Facilities after June 1.
Tag Information
- Items can be tagged using a temporary band. Please know that these bands are temporary and will not damage your property.
- The bands are usually bright colors like yellow, orange, or green. The color may vary based on availability and year.
What to Tag
Any personal items you have outside must be marked to indicate it is not abandoned property. This could include:
- Bikes
- Grills - apartment residents only
- Outdoor Furniture - apartment residents only
- Children's Toys
How to Get a Tag
- Apartment residents should contact their Resident Manager
- Residence hall residents should contact their Hall Staff
- Stop by the Housing & Residence Life Office, during normal operating hours
