Enhance your academic experience through peer support and social engagement of the Emerging Leaders Living Learning Community (LLC).

The Emerging Leaders LLC is a welcoming community for students who are passionate about diversity, equity, social justice, and inclusion.

Who lives in the Emerging Leaders LLC?

This LLC is designed for:

  • Students interested in diversity, equity and inclusion work
  • Students looking to expand their leadership journey
  • Students interested in social work, humanities, counseling, psychology, sociology, etc.
  • New and returning students of all majors

Emerging Leaders students live together in Selke Hall.

How do I apply?

Indicate your preference to live in the Emerging Leaders LLC when you complete your Housing Application. Assignments for Living Learning Communities will be completed in conjunction with all housing assignments.

In addition to traditional room assignment process, the Emerging Leaders LLC will offer gender inclusive housing assignments, providing the option for students to live with a roommate with whom they are most comfortable without consideration to the individual’s gender or gender expression. Students will only be assigned to gender inclusive assignments at their request. Gender inclusive room assignment requests must be mutual.

This unique living arrangement gives you a ready network of friends sharing your interests and career goals. Being part of this close-knit community will help make it easier for you to get involved in student organizations and campus events. You'll also have learning experiences as early as your first semester on campus designed to assist with your professional development while at UND and beyond.

Faculty and Alumni Connections

Programming coordinated by the Emerging Leaders LLC will connect members with student organizations, faculty and alumni. Students in this community work closely with staff from Student Diversity & Inclusion on their leadership journey.

  • Opportunities for community service and involvement with cross-cultural events
  • Meet with diverse leaders in the Greater Grand Forks community
  • Access to resources and support from Student Diversity & Inclusion Staff

Activities, Events and Programs

  • Participate in Strengths Quest workshops
  • Attend LGBTQIA Allyship in Action workshops
  • Volunteer at the Big Event
  • Attend cultural and identity events, such as Feast of Nations, Clothesline Project, Take Back the Night, and more
