UND Bookstore/Follett
The UND Bookstore uses Follett Adopt and Access, which is a powerful online tool that transforms the course materials discovery and adoption process for faculty and helps students obtain, organize and instantly access their required and recommended course materials from within Blackboard.
Many departments have a Follett Discover Concierge to assist faculty in adding textbooks and course materials into Follett Discover. Faculty should check with their department first to see if this assistance is available.
Accessing UND Bookstore/Follett through Blackboard
- Log in to Blackboard and select your course.
- Under the Textbooks menu item, you should see a Follett My Materials for UND link. If you do not see the link, you may add it within any content area by selecting Books & Tools from the Details & Actions section on the right-hand side of the screen. Select the + next to Follett My Materials for UND from the list of options. The new Follett tool link will be added as the last item of content in the Blackboard course and you may drag and drop the desired location.
- Click the link to launch Follett Discover. Follett Discover will load in a new window (pop-ups must be enabled).
- Note: If you see a broken link labeled Follett Discover (NEW), please delete that tool link.
Selecting Adoptions for Future Semesters
- You may use the steps above to access Follett from courses you are teaching in the current semester. You do not need to wait for the future semester course shell to be created in Blackboard.
- Once you click the Follett My Materials for UND link in your Blackboard course, you will see the option to select another Term. Select the desired term from the dropdown to select materials for courses in that term.
- From there you will be able to select textbook and educational materials for courses in upcoming terms.
Why Use Follett Adopt and Access
- When the UND Bookstore knows that a particular title has been readopted for the following term, it is able to offer students as much as 50% of the purchase price to buy back their book and stock for the next term’s students.
- Early adoptions allow the bookstore to source more used books which can provide a substantial savings opportunity to students as these books are often priced 25% off the cost of new.
- Students who rely on financial aid to purchase their books can only charge them to their account through the bookstore. Even if there are other ways for students to purchase your text, adopting it through the bookstore as well allows students to get their books, charge that purchase to their campus connection account and have either their financial aid pay the charge or have 30 days to pay the charge. Not having this option may prevent students from purchasing the text at all.
How Students Redeem Their Materials
Students can purchase ebooks and digital course materials in the UND Bookstore or online. Once purchased, students will access their materials via a code on their receipt or an order status email.Students must follow the access instructions provided on their receipts.
Some materials will be distributed to students directly from the publisher, while others will use either the new Kortext platform or the prior platform, BryteWave, which will eventually go away. Regardless of the platform they use, students will continue to have access to the material throughout their duration length purchased. The platform they are provided will be on their receipt in the website link.
These links can be shared with students if there are issues redeeming their material:
