Interactive Guides

TTaDA's Instructional Designers have developed interactive guides on a variety of topics and pedagogical strategies. These guides provide tips, resources, and pedagogical recommendations for improving/facilitating teaching and learning in all learning modalities based on best practices and research.

Accessibility Guide for Students - This guide is designed to provide students with tips and information for accessing learning content based on their learning needs. 

Course Delivery Formats - This guide aims to examine the variety of course delivery formats, their targeted audiences, the advantages and disadvantages of modalities, and best practices. 

Designing & Teaching Online Courses - This interactive tool will provide you with tips and strategies for teaching/designing online courses. Contained are tips and strategies for engaging students, creating inclusive courses, strategies for assessing and providing feedback, and other helpful strategies and tips.

Designing & Teaching SPEA Courses - This interactive tool will provide tips and strategies for teaching/designing online Self-Paced Enroll Anytime (SPEA) courses. Contained are tips and strategies for engaging students, creating inclusive courses, assessing and providing feedback, and other helpful strategies and tips.

Guide for Designing Inclusive Courses - Designing inclusive courses can help break down hidden barriers and inequities students face in classes. There are various strategies you can employ to create inclusive learning environments. This guide will provide you with tips and helpful resources for designing inclusive learning environments.

Guide for Making Course Content Accessible - This guide is designed to give faculty a head start on making their course content accessible. It contains tips and information for making course content accessible inculding using appropriate headings, adding alternative text to images, using descriptive hyperlinks, and tips for using Blackboard Ally. An accessibility checklist is also included.

New Student Resources - This document contains information about things you need as a new student. You will learn about Blackboard, various academic tools, and tips for being successful as a student at UND.

Responding to Academic Integrity Issues in the Classroom - This tool contains information about resources available to faculty for preventing, identifying, and responding to issues related to academic integrity. Discussed are strategies within the classroom as well as the institutional response to reports of academic dishonesty.

Student Engagement Tips and Strategies - There are various elements of student engagement. Understanding these elements will assist you to determine which/what tools and strategies to use to engage your students. This interactive tool will provide you with ideas for tools and strategies for engaging students.

Teaching Assistant Resource Guide - This document contains information and helpful resources you need as a teaching assistant. You will learn about Blackboard, various academic tools, and tips for being successful as a teaching assistant at UND.

Writing an Effective Syllabus - A syllabus is more than just a checklist or collection of policies and procedures. Oftentimes it is the first document students read and sets the tone for a course.  This guide provides tips and recommendations for creating an effective syllabus.  The guide also includes additional recommended University and/or Department policy statements to incorporate into the syllabus.
