Quality Matters™ at UND

The University of North Dakota is a subscribing member of Quality Matters (QM). QM promotes and improves the quality of online education and student learning nationally and internationally. Administration, faculty, and staff can create accounts to access a variety of resources, professional development, and a course peer review process.

About Quality Matters™ (QM)

QM Research

QM Research focuses on improvements in the QM Quality Assurance process. If you are interested in conducting QM-focused research or finding studies to support the use of QM, start with the resources listed in this section.

Quality Assurance Begins with a Set of Standards

To achieve your goals for delivering quality online learning, you need everyone to agree on what the expectations are. You need trustworthy standards that foster objective feedback on course design. QM Rubrics and Standards were created to help course developers, teachers, faculty, entire organizations, and — most importantly — students. The General Standards and Specific Review Standards in each Rubric are intended to guide you through the development, evaluation, and improvement of your online and blended courses. Meeting these quality expectations at or above the 85% level is key to certifying the quality of your courses.

QM Professional Development

Strengthen your expertise and expand your skill set through QM professional development focused on improving the quality of online and blended courses. There are opportunities for every audience: instructional designers, faculty, administrators, adjunct instructors, staff, trainers, and more. Your membership includes a discount on professional development and certifications.7

Accessibility Challenges

You can register to use the Accessibility & Usability Resource Site (AURS) by logging into MyQM and selecting “Workshop - Register” in the side navigation and choosing “Register for Accessibility & Usability Resource Site”. (If you've already registered, the AURS link can be found on your Dashboard in the QM Classroom after you log in.) There is no cost for this workshop.

Course Alignment Standards Verification Mark

This Teaching Transformation and Development Academy has a Course Alignment Standards Verification Mark. This mark means the objectives, assessments, activities, learning materials, and tools align across the course. This indicates that every component of the course has a specific purpose, toward the Course Outcomes. This digital badge can be shared in your course, syllabus, promotion packets, or social media spaces like LinkedIn to allow and allows all shareholders to immediately identify a quality course.
